Week 8/31-9/4

 Dear parents,

Yes:) We had a wonderful first week, we have enjoyed getting to know all of the kids.  We hope they are settling in well and enjoying school. If you have to turn in disclosures/policy...please sign and return them as soon as possible.

English Homework/Announcements:
I really enjoyed getting to know your students this week and look forward to the year. This week we spent time going through rules and procedures for our class. As the students know our homework will vary week by week, but you should expect some math assignments weekly along with projects throughout the year that will prepare them for middle school. My expectation is for them to write down each day the assignment they have and complete assignments to the best of their ability. My goal is for students to take responsibility for their work by keeping track of assignments and turning them in.
One question that came up this week was about reading. We will have a reading program this year and I will send home more information about it this upcoming week.
Finally I just want to let you know how encouraging it was to interact with your students! They are well behaved and interested in growing in their knowledge each day. This will be a great year!

Dear Parents:
I won't have weekly assignments posted for both classes on Canvas due to the tech issue, but they will have Quizlet on Science, Chinese, and Social Studies vocabulary practice.  Students will also have Mandarin Matrix review reading lessons to complete.
Due to the fact that my two sons are going to basketball school in Arizona, this is the first time that they are away from home.  My husband and I are going to drive them down there.  So, I will have a substitute for Monday and Tuesday.
I use class dojo to communicate with you about your student daily, please sign in class dojo.  Also, if you have a login for a Quizlet, please login.  If you have an issue with the Quizlet password, please put an MV with students' lunch numbers.

   欢迎光临

Hello parents and students!

Welcome to sixth grade! We are so excited to start the new school year. Although the challenge of Covid-19 still around, we have done so much to get prepared and we believe It is going to be a great year .

This week we will be getting to know each other better and work on getting back into routines. We will do some fun, collaboration, and Golden gate kids related activities so we can all learn how to cooperate with many different peers. It is so important to us that students leave sixth grade academically and socially prepared for all of the things they will encounter in the future. We will also spend a lot of time assessing what each child needs to be successful in school.

Please return signed disclosure statements before Friday.  In addition, this year we will use Canvas for all the subjects.  We will show students how to login in Canvas during class instruction.  When you login, you will see videos to show you how to use Canvas. If you have any questions, please contact us.  It is so important that we are all clear on our expectations. We are always available if any concerns arise.
